Seven's car may be totalled, but my car has a bed

Posted by Malachy Feb. 22, 2008 @ 9:55 PM EST

Since hotels are apparently more expensive depending on snow being on the ground, I'm going to be sleeping in my van next weekend.

Edit: My car is getting new tires today (2/26) and will be getting some engine work and a recalled part fixed on Friday, I hope they finish it on Friday or else I'm sleeping in my fiancee's camry hybrid.

Where ya going?

Feb. 22, 2008 | 11:02 PM Malachy responds:

Sugarbush, Vt.

My dad has always wanted to have a bed in his vehicle.
But we've always convinced him to buy cars instead of vans.

Feb. 25, 2008 | 7:53 PM Malachy responds:

my sister wasn't happy about the van. he got it just when we were getting old enough to drive. she has never driven it, but one of the first times I've ever gone driving, my dad had me drive to a marina where he had just got a new fishing boat, and drive it back trailer and all

where do you live?

Feb. 26, 2008 | 7:17 PM Malachy responds:

4 hours away from sugarbush. but it was mostly the annoyance of only have a week or so to figure out my plans, if I had longer, I'd had saved up for the trip, or asked for my money back. but it's too late to ask for money back and at least it's a comfortable bed

Y'know dude, if I'm driving up to Montreal the weekend of the meet and have the room in my car, we could totally carpool and save on gas. It depends though, because I may end up only being a cameo at the meet in favor of hanging out with a bunch of people from UMass that might come up with me.

We'll be in touch before actually having to drive somewhere. But it's really not all that unreasonable to have me swing through Upstate NY.

Feb. 26, 2008 | 11:28 PM Malachy responds:

swinging through upstate NY is OK, since you can just take 87 north, but you know that I'm an hour or so off 87.

Oh, and Sugarbush is an awesome resort. I haven't been in a while, but definitely spend the better part of your day on the extra peak they've got. I don't remember specific trails, but there's an awesome string of 'em where you can get yourself a good long straight away down to the bottom that isn't usually highly inhabited, or you can just stay on the upper levels and hit up the harder square and diamond trails repeatedly.

Feb. 26, 2008 | 11:30 PM Malachy responds:

oh yes, it's one of my favorites. Jay Peak is my all time favorite. I like Whiteface, and that's not just home-mountain love. I spent a whole day in their park two winters ago learning how to do a 360 on my skis while my friend mastered falling on his face.

but I wont have very much time for free riding this weekend, plus we're spending our time on beginner to intermediate terrain, since that's what the certification level is for.
